Bangkok Poets @ First Bangkok Literary Festival / Sunday, May 22nd @ 7:15 PM

A few of the poets from Bangkok Poetry have been invited to participate in WordPlay, the First Bangkok Literary Festival.

The poetry reading is the final event of the Festival, a day-long series of readings and workshops held at the Nielson Hays Library. For further details, including a schedule of readings and talks by Ken Hom, David Thompson, John Burdett, Stephen Leather, Chris Baker, Pasuk Phongpaichit, Nic Dunlop, and others, see the WordPlay schedule here.

There will be an "open mic" at 7:15 PM, followed by the seven scheduled poets including: Saranit Vongkiatkajorn, Ivory Simone, Mrigaa Sethi, Theron Kennedy, KJ Miner, Cameron Conaway, and Colin Cheney.

Raised in Chiang Mai, and having avoided the capital most all his life, Saranit Vongkiatkajorn has now lived in Bangkok for a whole year. Originally from the Arizona deserts of the United States, Ivory Simone has recently published a fiction novel, Havasu Means Blue Water, and a poetry chapbook, The Rainy Season. Mrigaa Sethi received her MFA in poetry at New York University and currently lives in Bangkok, where she writes for BK Magazine. Theron Kennedy writes philosophical and Neo-Romanticist poetry, with a hip hop feel to it. KJ Miner is an American poet who recently found his marbles in a bag full of mojo. Cameron Conaway is the author of two forthcoming books of poetry: (1) Until You Make the Shore (Salmon Poetry, Jan 2012) and (2) Bonemeal (Finishing Line Press, Spring 2012). Colin Cheney is a Bangkok-based American poet, whose collection Here Be Monsters, was selected for the 2010 National Poetry Series and published by University of Georgia Press.
